Inside Bone There's Always Marrow

I love chapbooks, I think of each book as an individual work of Art, as a reader I feel like its an oppurtunity to begin a conversation, sit down and get to know another poet over a cup of tea, a mug of coffee, or a glass of wine. I have been reading Rachel Mallino's chapbook, Inside Bone There's Always Marrow. Rachel is a friend and the warden (founder) of the inmates at Inside the Writers Studio. She is also the founder and editor of Tilt Press, a small independt press that supports new and emerging writers. I found her book surprising, full of both hard protective edges and soft tender spots much like bone. As I sipped my cup of tea, I found at times I wanted to hi-five her for her incredible sense of self and independence, other times to reach across the room to give her a hug, often I found myself nodding yes and yes as I read. A wonderful conversation about life, love and poetry; a beautiful work of Art from Rachel Mallino. I would recommend that you sit down with a cup of tea and meet Rachel. The book is available at Maverick Duck Press for 5 dollars.
