Home Again
I woke up this morning but with one thought, I am home. It feels very good to be at home base. I travel frequently with my work and while I enjoy traveling and love my job, I savor my time home. It is good to be home, with both my menagerie of humans and creatures. While I was gone we had one of the worst ice/snow storms in recent history, school was closed for 4 days, the trains shut down, the office was closed, and according to my husband both creatures and humans were getting a bit stir crazy. Perhaps not a bad time to be away. I on the other hand, had a fantastic time in Philly, moved forward on a work project that is very important to me, managing to reconnect with old friends and steal a weekend with my family. Despite the fantastic time, I still could not wait to be home. Today I am going to wallow in my own home. Drive my daughter crazy with my very existence, tell my husband I love him over and over, wash the dog, pet the cats, and simply be home.
I realized I have not updated my published poems side bar to include poems in Press 1, Red River Review, Illya's Honey, and Flutter ( I have added it to my to-do list). I found out this week that I will have a new poem of mine in the next issue San Pedro River Review. I am pretty excited as I sent the poem on a wild hair. I took the poem to DPC workshop and my friend Ann Howells-wrote in big letters--Send this NOW to SPRR, they have a theme issues on journeys--and I did within 24 hours. Not like me at all. Perhaps being less like me--is a good thing. The photo my side garden in the spring--as we are in the throes of winter-I felt a bit of spring was in order. I am home. I am groovy. I hope the same for you.
